the perfect diet by FatalPotato the perfect diet by FatalPotato
Helloo everyone!  I hope you've all been enjoying the holidays

I've been watching a lot of Supersize vs. Superskinny and the Biggest Loser, so I couldn't resist making this little doohickey 8-) (Cool)
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to eating healthy (lots of fruits and vegetables, right?? 8B :icon8buckplz: ), so please don't take this too literally!

A lot of people look for some specially-formulated, laboratory-born diet that magically lets them lose weight, or have nice skin, or whatever it is they want... so that's why the little foods are in the test tube. :)  Or, as kasuka-chan succinctly put it, "No matter what kind of laboratory-formulated 'miracle' drug people try, there's no substitute for a healthy diet." There are, of course, exceptions of serious medical conditions that require certain drugs to treat.  I'm not dismissing the fact that medication is often necessary, just the ones that promise something ridiculous (like losing 30 lbs in a week). :)

From top to bottom: chicken breast, tuna, salmon, cheese, almonds, cashews, pecans, black beans, eggs, eggplant, carrots, sweet potato, avocado, broccoli, grapes, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, pear, noodles, brown rice, and some sort of whole grain bread.  I didn't include milk because the carton/jug would've looked out of place.

Sorry it's a bit blurry-- I couldn't hold my hand still :ohnoes: Here's a better view of them: fav.me/d6zsznh

Partly inspired by the food tube from Supersize vs. Superskinny: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEAHUB…  (start around 9:22)
All handmade by me, except test tube.
polymer clay, liquid FIMO, pastels, paint, superglue, baking soda, TLS, moss, matte glaze, glossy glaze

Oh, nooo. I had a SS vs. SS marathon a few months ago when I finally discovered it, and now you're linking me an episode when I'm supposed to be drawing? Darn it. xD /watches anyways

I really love this photo in particular, out of your more recent works. The presentation's lovely, and the mix of colors and even the message are just... yes. Awesome work, as usual! :la:

I'll admit that it's strangely interesting, seeing the week's meals tumbling down the chute, then watching them struggle with each others' diets. It gets repetitive, but I just keep watching. xD I went through four episodes that night, haha!

And you're very welcome! I always mean my compliments, especially when food is involved. ;P

You could have put in a little bit of cream cheese or a fairly healthful cheese wedge of something, or a little package of yogurt, to represent a "healthy" dairy item.

But then, frankly I don't follow any diet, because the "magic bullet" diets always not only tell you to completely exclude something it's actually been proven is good for you and allowable in moderate amounts (witness the furor over eggs and chocolate), but also are mega-expensive in some way or another (I am not going to pay no $4 for a little "snack" bar on Jenny Craig or some sh**.  You gotta be kidding...I can buy 4 lbs of fresh apples for that, and have them for a snack and make applesauce too!).

Buy whole grain stuff (its all over the place, now); fruits and veggies (in season or at farmer's markets are the best); reduce the sugar intake but remember that ultimately everything we eat eventually is broken down into simple sugars and starches; eat healthy amounts of what you want but use any form of food in moderation; and get some exercise.  Most of all, don't believe the hype and crap on labels, in mags, or on the radio or TV, because most of the time it's misleading, in direct contradiction to some other statement thus confusing, or outright false.

What works for one person may not work for you -- your bodies respond to food and exercise differently.  Experiment and listen to your body and it will tell you what it wants and doesn't want, and most of all, do NOT expect it to happen overnight, because it won't.  It takes a long time to change habits, eating or otherwise.  That's how I lost over 180 pounds.

Sorry to have gotten on the soap-box, but all the diet hype makes me mad when I know people can do it just by some conscious decisions, ignoring all the "big discovery miracle diet" crapola...

Yes, too, but sometimes I just feel like it's quite planned how something in their youth turns out to be the reason for the eating habits...like in those crime series, where they find the solution after half an hour, you know what I mean? Feels a bit shallow.
